Hamelin Bay School Holiday Camping

It's school holiday! Our family decided to go camping. After all the lockdowns and restrictions we are now able to travel all across Western Australia. It's almost a last minute booking so a lot of the campsites are already full. We are planning to go to Albany but end up booking at  Hamelin Bay Holiday Park ( https://hamelinbayholidaypark.com.au/) located between Margaret River and Augusta.

Excitedly packed our tent and camping gears we are now ready to go camping!

But first, make a checklist. Second, two days before you go make sure that everything is ready. It's super cold especially at night so a comfy tent should be the top on your lists  to enjoy your winter camping. We are also advised to bring our own fire pit as there are not enough provided for all the campers by the campsite. Showering at the campsite is a bit of struggle too. Pack or organise your personal care stuffs that is convenient for you.

It's time to go! It's almost three hours drive from our place to Hamelin Bay. First stop Busselton. We rested at the Jetty and had our packed lunch at the park. Played a bit and took some photos before we head on to our campsite. We reached campsite around three in the afternoon. Put up our tent and had coffee then decided to watch sunset by the beach.

Breathtaking sunset by the beach! Remnants of the pier also adds beauty to it. It was like it's leading you to the place the sun will rest with the calming music of the waves. It's so peaceful. So relaxing. Nature at it's best. A place to take your time out.

Second day. Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

A 100 year old working lighthouse. An animated film on how the lighthouse was built can be watch in their interpretative centre. When you get tired roaming around lunch and coffee are available at the cafe. Love the burger and cappuccino. After lunch we head onto the rocks. We didn't see any whales though but the scenery is majestic.

Last day, We don't wanna go home yet but we woke up early, I cooked breakfast, ate, shower and then pack up. Check out time is 10am. We had our last glimpse of the beach. We're not lucky to see any stingrays though maybe next time.

Before going home we are to see the Lake Cave. Let us amaze ourselves with stalactites and stalagmites (he he) Lake Cave is 15 metres below the ground. Wooden staircase leads you to a sink hole which is the opening of the cave. A tour guide will assist you going down the cave. It's was an awe to know how many years it took for all these stalactites and stalagmites to grow. Inside the cave the tour guide will ask you to sit at the platform at the back of the cave while he will turn on and off the lights. When it's pitch black, you can see nothing only hear drops of water. I felt anxious but a wonderful underground experience though.

On our way home we stopped at Cowaramup. It was like a cow town. My son said it's cowville. We bought sausage roll, meat pie and croissant for lunch at the bakery and ate it at the park. The pie was yum.

Finally home. We're tired but happy. My son said he misses home. It's good to go out and be away to your comfort for a while. We enjoyed Hamelin Bay! We love our camping! We're always looking forward to do it. In fact we already booked our campsite for next year!!!
